The garbage crisis in Naples is an endless story which unfortunately triggers effects on people health and environment. The paradigm politicians-organized crime-garbage crisis is built up on a very simple principle: the garbage disposal is very lucrative and that is why they will never split apart at least on a medium term. I do believe that in Italy the political spectrum is very much aware of the impact of garbage issue on the area and internationally as well. EU has approached very closely the garbage crisis in Naples so far and even it provided financial support to find a solution. The result has been every time like a cliché: the area was clean for a short time and then the garbage was pilling up again.
Conclusion: I do not see a way out of this “labyrinth” which has become more and more sophisticated.
